PERSONAL STATEMENT

Dr. Marchman’s career as a public school educator has spanned teacher, principal, professor and administrator. He most recently served as the Assistant Provost and Director of UF’s Office of Distance Learning where he provided strategic leadership and oversight for UF’s distance learning unit, which includes nearly 200 self-supporting programs, the Distance Education Service Center (DESC)UF Flexible LearningUF Dual Enrollment, and enterprise-wide online proctoring services. Under his leadership, the number of centrally-supported online programs expanded more than 100%. Dr. Marchman was inducted into Florida Blue Key, UF’s oldest and most prestigious honorary “in recognition of outstanding ability, leadership, and service to the University of Florida.”

As a senior administrator at the Florida Virtual School, Dr. Marchman founded the first-of-its-kind, award-winning virtual teaching internship program in collaboration with UF and other Florida universities. He has taught at both the undergraduate and graduate levels at UF and USF and is a Graduate Faculty Scholar at UCF. During a twenty-eight year career as a servant-leader and student advocate, including teaching and administrative roles at the UF’s P.K. Yonge Developmental Research School, Dr. Marchman has been named Teacher of the Year and Principal of the Year. Dr. Marchman is a member of the United States Distance Learning Association (USDLA) and serves on the Board of Directors of the Florida Distance Learning Association (FDLA), Florida ASCD,  and the Florida Sterling Council. The author of numerous professional publications, Dr. Marchman also frequently presents at state, national, and international conferences. He was awarded the 2020 FDLA Distance Learning “Visionary Award” for Distinguished Leadership.

Dr. Marchman is a proud quadruple Gator. He also holds a UF graduate certificate in Managing Distance Education Environments. In addition, Dr. Marchman completed post-doctoral work in an executive leadership certificate program at Harvard University and a negotiation strategies program at Yale University.
