Course Weighting Overview
Course weighting reflects the level of rigor of a course and how it is calculated into a student’s GPA. Standard (unweighted) courses are calculated on a 4.0 scale, while advanced courses—such as Honors, Advanced Placement (AP), Dual Enrollment, and other designated advanced courses receive additional weight to recognize the increased academic challenge.
Weighted courses can positively impact a student’s weighted GPA, but they do not replace the importance of strong performance in all coursework. Students are encouraged to choose courses that balance academic challenge, interests, and overall well-being while meeting graduation and post-secondary goals.
