Discipline Point System

The Goals of the Behavior System at PKY are to:

  • Maximize learning opportunities for college and career readiness
  • Allow for effective teaching and learning by minimizing disruption to the learning environment
  • Provide an environment in which all students, teachers, and staff feel safe – physically, emotionally, and psychologically
  • Promote responsible citizenship and community engagement
  • Support social-emotional and academic development
  • Form and sustain positive relationships
  • Provide fair and consistent responses to student misbehavior
  • Engage in collaborative problem solving

Elementary Students are expected to abide by the Student Code of Conduct and Being Anchored by Taking Care of Yourself, Each Other, and the School (YES!).

Secondary Students are expected to abide by the Student Code of Conduct and emulate the 4 Rs: Responsible, Respectful, Resilient, Ready.

Examples include but are not limited to: Cell phone out without permission; talking during instruction; eating in class; dress code violation; horseplayExamples include but are not limited to: Defiance; skipping class; inappropriate language or gestures; cheating; plagiarismExamples include but are not limited to: Vandalism; Vaping; Safety Hazard; Threat; Sexting; Fighting; Theft; Cyberbullying; Disruption on CampusExamples include but are not limited to: Assault; Dating Violence; Inappropriate Touching; Sexual Battery; Arson; Physical Aggression Toward Faculty/Staff
1-3 points per referral2-4 points per referral3-6 points per referral5 or more points per referral

When a student reaches or exceeds 5 points, he/she is put on a behavior notice.

  • If a student reaches or exceeds 10 points during a single school year, he/she will be recommended for dismissal from PKY.

The Principal/designee is responsible for school discipline and has a reasonable degree of discretion in determining the severity of of misconduct and the appropriate consequence.

NOTE: The Student Code of Conduct provides more detailed information about school discipline and expectations.
