The Blue Wave track and field team has produced notable collegiate and all-state athletes. The Blue Wave track and field team is coached by Valerie Flournoy, Alonzo Wright, and Lauren Chandler.
1948- Earliest mention of boys track
1949- County track team for girls
1952-State Championships and State Record- Sprint Medley Team of Enrique Burmudez, Alvin Moore, Miller Merchart, Matt Marshall, Half-Mile Relay (880 yard) of Alvin Moore, Enrique Burmudez, Miller Merchant, Ken Morris, and Ken Morris– 100 yard and 220 yard sprint (state record in the 220 yd).
1959- State Meet- Billy Horne places in the broad jump
1960- State Meet – Charles Layfield runner-up in the broad jump; Conference Champions- Carles Layfield- broad jump, Larry Rowlison- 440 yd, Sprint Medley Team- Ted Douglas, Bob Justiss, Mike Richards, and Larry Rowlison.
2005- Girls and Boys State Championship Team
