Our K/1 community is built on curiosity, creativity, and connection. Through hands-on learning, play, and meaningful experiences, our young learners build strong academic foundations while developing essential social-emotional skills.

K/1 Newsletter

Field Trips

K/1 students have the opportunity to go to Animal Kingdom, the Florida Aquarium, and more.

Entrepreneurship

Pizza by the Creek

On even years, K/1 students create a one-day pizza restaurant. They interview for jobs, make decorations, and more.

K/1 Coffee Co.

On odd years, K/1 students host a coffee company throughout the third nine weeks.

Elementary Administration

Dicy Watson

Assistant University School Professor

Dicy is the Director of Elementary Programs at P.K. Yonge. She previously served as the 2nd and 3rd grade Learning Community Leader. She started teaching in 2007 and joined the P.K. Yonge family in 2013. Having experience in both public and international school settings, Dicy has worked with students from 2nd-6th grade.

Dicy earned both a bachelor’s degree and master’s degree in elementary education from the University of Florida. Her passion for literacy development shows through her extensive work in helping students develop a lifelong love for reading. Dicy works hard to build a classroom community where all students feel safe to take risks and grow as learners.

Outside of school, Dicy enjoys spending time with her husband John and their four children, Tristan, Rafe, Finn, and Littlest Dicy. She enjoys photography and loves to travel to new places with her family. Dicy lives in High Springs, FL, where you can often find her enjoying nature.

Jill Ozog

Instructor

Jill is the K/1 Learning Community Leader and PreK Director. She is a member of the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC).

Catherine Walker

Elementary School Counselor

This is my 20th year as a school counselor and I have worked in elementary, middle, and high schools. I played golf at the University of Florida and have coached the girls golf team at Keystone Heights High School and Bradford High School.
