About P.K. Yonge

P.K. Yonge Developmental Research School, affiliated with the College of Education at the University of Florida, is a public school established in 1934 with the mission to design, test, and disseminate best practices in PreK-12 education by serving a representative student community.

P.K. Yonge’s faculty serves approximately 1,420 students each year and, in partnership with faculty at the UF College of Education, strives to design and test innovative teaching solutions to meet the needs of all learners.

P.K. Yonge boasts a warm community atmosphere that fosters deep and impactful relationships with students and families over many years. Teachers work closely in collaborative environments that promote open discussion about innovative ideas and translate emerging theories and research into classroom practice.
With greater professional autonomy, P.K. Yonge teachers enjoy curricular flexibility and engage in research in their own classrooms. To ensure the success of P.K. Yonge’s mission, the school seeks teachers who find research and investigation inspiring, who value the ability to reach outside the bounds of the classroom, and who are open to sharing outcomes on a broader scale.

As an employee of the University of Florida, teachers have the ability to participate in the university promotion process—which has the potential to lead to higher rank and salary. P.K. Yonge teachers have full access to UF benefits. Additionally, teachers are afforded the use of the UF tuition assistance program to pursue advanced degrees at the University of Florida.
