6th-12th Grade Back to School Info

Greetings P.K. Yonge Secondary Students, Welcome to the 2026-2027 P.K.Yonge School Year! Below you will find lots of information related to the start of school. We are excited to see you on Monday, August 10.    Skyward Access and Beginning-of-School-Year Forms  Skyward Family Access has reopened! There are two required sets of beginning-of-year forms for families to complete:

1. Skyward Digital Forms – These must be completed before the first day of school.
2. Media Release Form  – This form is required and is not available within Skyward. Please complete this form online and select consent or do not consent. The media release form must be completed by November 1 to be included in the 2027 Yearbook. 

Please be sure to use an email address and phone number in Skyward that you check regularly—this is the only way P.K. Yonge will be able to communicate with you. Chromebooks and Student Skyward/Google/Canvas Access Students will receive their Student Skyward/Google/Canvas passwords once all beginning-of-school-year forms are complete AND students have been issued their Chromebooks..   Schedule Change Requests  Schedule change requests will ONLY be completed through the:

• Middle School Schedule Change Request Form
• High School Schedule Change Request Form

All forms must be submitted by end of day Friday, August 21, 2026.  IMPORTANT NOTE: Schedule changes will be processed if request and approvals are received by the deadlines AND if course changes are available.   Bell Schedules 6th-7th Grade

• Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays: 8:22 a.m. - 3:03 p.m.
• Wednesdays: 8:20 a.m. - 1:40 p.m.

8th-12th Grade 

• Monday-Friday: 8:30 a.m. - 3:02 p.m.

Current family information, including logistics like bell schedules, can be found at MyPK https://pkyonge.ufl.edu/my-pk/.    6th-12th Grade Morning Supervision  Campus supervision of students starts at 7:30 am. Secondary students who arrive before 8:20 am will:

• Attend club meetings and/or supervised sports practices
• Gather in the cafeteria and/or area in front of the cafeteria for supervision

  6th-7th Grade Afternoon Supervision On Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays, students should be:

• picked up by 3:15 p.m. 
  • Pickup at 6th Street
• attending Academic Study Hall from 3:05-4:00 pm
  • Call main office (352-392-1554) to have your student notified to meet you at pickup location 
  • At 4:00 pm, students will be walked to the 6th Street blue benches 
• attending supervised extracurricular opportunities OR
• registered to attend Blue Wave After School http://www.bluewaveafterschool.com/ 

On Wednesdays, students should be:

• picked up at 1:40 pm and off campus by 1:55 pm
  • Pickup at 6th Street
• attending supervised extracurricular opportunities OR
• registered to attend Blue Wave After School - 6th-8th grade only 
• NO study hall available for 6th-7th grade on Wednesdays 

  8th-12th Grade Afternoon Supervision After dismissal, 8th-12th grade students should be:

• picked up or off campus by 3:15 pm
  • Pickup at 6th Street 
• attending Academic Study Hall from 3:05-4:00 pm
  • Wednesdays, 8th-12th Grade only 
• attending supervised extracurricular opportunities
• registered to attend Blue Wave After School - 8th grade only http://www.bluewaveafterschool.com/ 

  Supervised Activities include:

• Scheduled Athletics activities
• Performing Arts or Band rehearsal
• Club Meetings
• Academic Study Hall or Tutoring

Supervised Activities do NOT include:

• being in the gym if not in at a supervised Athletics activity
• waiting to be picked up outside the PAC or 6th street
• hanging out around campus without a faculty sponsor

At 4:00 pm, campus is closed and secondary students who are not at Blue Wave After School or engaged in an approved extracurricular activity will be escorted outside the 6th Street gate to wait in the car pick-up area.   Drop-Off, Pick-Up, and Student Parking  General Reminders

• Direct students to enter & exit on the CURB side of your vehicle during drop-off.
• The inside lane is for passing only.
• Remind students to use crosswalks when crossing roads inside campus.
• Drive carefully on campus. There are lots of pedestrians.
• Please be mindful of our neighbors. Please avoid blocking driveways, turn lanes and roundabouts in the neighborhoods surrounding our school. 

Student Drivers

• Student drivers must have a parking permit.
• Student drivers will park in the north lot but will enter and leave campus by the gate guard shack at 1080 SW 11th Street. 
• Please be mindful of our pre-K and elementary students and families who also utilize the 11th Street gate. 

6th Street Drop-Off and Pick-Up for Secondary Students

• The 6th Street gate will open at 7:30 am. The pedestrian gate will close at 8:30 am. Arrivals to campus after 8:30 am will have to proceed to the 11th street entrance with the gate guard. 
• As a reminder, we strongly encourage NO LEFT TURNS onto 6th Street when leaving PK. Please make a right turn onto 6th Street. 
• Students who walk out of the 6th Street entrance can be picked up at the parking spaces along 6th Street. Please park in those spaces to wait so you are not blocking traffic or creating a safety hazard. Please note: Students that exit the 6th Street entrance are no longer a responsibility of P.K. Yonge.

• Email: Ensure your Skyward email is one you check regularly, as all official school communications will be sent there.
• Website: The website is updated regularly and is the primary source for school communications. The search function is very useful for looking for more information on the site. 
• MyPK: The current family section of the website is updated regularly with information. 
• Daily Announcements: Designed for 6th–12th grade students, but a great way for all families to stay informed about happenings across the creek. Schoolwide emails will also be posted here. 
• eNewsletters: Subscribe to the eNewsletters to receive director updates, academic success news, and more directly in your inbox. 
• PKY Facebook: School communication, student highlights, and more occur regularly here.

  PKY Parent Teacher Organization The PKY PTO had a very successful year last year and we’re looking forward to more good things to come this year! Stay up-to-date with PTO happenings at the PKY PTO facebook group. Save the date for the PKY PTO meeting on Wednesday, September 9 during K-7 Open House. You can use your MyBucks account from last year to add money to your student’s account or set up a new account. More information: Cafeteria    Clinic/Nurse We have a wonderful school clinic administered by Nurse Eva Gonzalez. More information about the clinic, including Nurse Eva’s contact information and clinic forms, can be found at: Clinic. Medication can be dropped off to the clinic. Make sure to include all appropriate forms. All K-12 immunization records should be emailed to Nurse Eva Gonzalez (nurse@pky.ufl.edu), Fax (352-392-9559), or dropped off to the main office.   Upcoming Dates: 9th Grade Orientation  | Wednesday, August 5 | Students & Parents 8:45-Noon 9th Grade Students and families are invited to join the high school administration, school counselors, and 9th grade teachers for 9th Grade Orientation.  6th Grade Orientation  | Friday, August 7 | Students 8:00 am-Noon | Parents 10:30 am-Noon   6th Grade Students and families are invited to join us for a 6th grade orientation! More detailed information can be found in your email.  You can bring:

• School supplies
• Medications with forms and deliver to Nurse Eva in the elementary lobby
• Cash/credit to buy Blue Wave spirit items from the PTO pop-up in the elementary lobby

Senior Academic Family Night | Tuesday, August 25 | 5:30-7:00pm  Seniors and families are invited to Senior Night to discuss college and career academic planning.  K-7th Grade Blue Wave Open House | Wednesday, September 9 | 5:30-7:00pm  During K-7 Blue Wave Open House, parents/guardians have the opportunity to meet teachers and learn more about their students’ classes and available extracurricular opportunities.  8th-12th Grade Blue Wave Back to School Night | Thursday, September 10 | 5:30-7:00pm  During 8-12 Blue Wave Open House, families have the opportunity to meet teachers and learn more about their students’ classes and available extracurricular opportunities.
