Good afternoon, Blue Wave. Today is Tuesday, March 31, 2026.  Memorial Tree Students,  you may have noticed a beautiful new area in front of the secondary building that consists of a small patio with a bench and a brick circle around a newly planted tree.  These things are in memoriam for a teaching intern, Michael Solis.  During his senior year at the University of Florida, Michael completed his student teaching at P.K. Yonge under the mentorship of Mr. John Bourn, and in this placement, he developed a deep passion for social studies education and for helping students better understand history and the world around them. After graduating from UF, he accepted a position in Southwest Florida ,where he planned to teach high school history and live out his calling of inspiring young minds.  Unfortunately, shortly after graduation, Michael's life was tragically cut short. Known for his positive spirit, outgoing personality and genuine kindness, Michael lived fully and intentionally.  He loved his family deeply, especially his twin brother, and cherished his close circle of friends. Though his time here was brief, his passion for teaching, serving, and connecting with others continues to inspire all who knew him. May this space remind us to live with purpose, value each day, and invest in others as Michael hoped to do. I hope that you will help to honor Michael’s legacy by taking care of this space designed to remember him.
