P.K. Yonge’s high school program is centered on preparing students for college and career success, featuring the College Board AP Capstone Diploma™ Program available to all high school students. This program—along with a wide range of Advanced Placement (AP) courses—supports a rigorous, personalized, and student-centered learning experience.

With a commitment to “AP for All,” P.K. Yonge provides students with access to challenging coursework and opportunities to earn college credit. The high school program is designed with a strong focus on supporting each student’s post-secondary goals, fostering a collaborative community and a supportive school culture that guides students toward their future aspirations.

High School Features

AP Capstone Diploma™ Program

Available to all P.K. Yonge high school students in every PK Pathway, the AP Capstone Diploma program consists of completing AP Seminar and AP Research courses plus obtaining qualifying scores on four additional AP exams. According to the College Board, the AP Capstone Diploma program “gives students a chance to practice core academic skills that are increasingly valued by colleges. The ability to think independently, write effectively, research, collaborate, and learn across disciplines is essential for success in college, career, and beyond.”

AP for All

Career and Technical Education Pathways

CTE Pathways provide purposeful, in-depth focuses for how a student can spend their elective time. Students in all CTE Pathways can also earn Career and Technical Education (CTE) credits. These students can earn industry certifications and Florida Bright Futures Gold Seal scholarships.

College & Career Readiness Courses

P.K. Yonge has a strong academic focus on university and career readiness and has invested in this through college and career readiness courses at the 11th- and 12th-grade levels. All students experience SAT and ACT test preparation and tutoring, university visits, interview and resume preparation, scholarship applications, and one-on-one coaching for post-secondary decisions.

Students are challenged to rise to Florida Bright Futures’ standards so that they can reach their post-secondary goals.

Student-Led Research

Public Service Emphasis

One of the core values at P.K. Yonge is community. From kindergarten through 12th grade, students are taught the value of accepting differences, working collaboratively, and being a good citizen. P.K. Yonge high school students also have a service hour requirement for graduation that they fulfill through volunteering in the school and community. Starting in 2024, all high school students will receive Public Service Careers coursework.

This CTE coursework is built in throughout the high school experience and students will graduate with CTE credit in Careers in Public Service.

Academic Success Supports

In support of P.K. Yonge’s students, several ongoing and new academic success supports have been implemented. There has been an investment in tutoring in a variety of subjects. Academic study hall is a quiet place on campus for students to work and get more help. Teachers have been holding help sessions for their classes for many years. P.K. Yonge has committed to test prep tutoring for SAT, ACT, and CLT.
