Welcome Back, PreK-5th Grade Blue Wave Families!

Dear Elementary School Families, Welcome to the 2025–2026 school year at P.K. Yonge! I hope this message finds you well and filled with excitement for the journey ahead. Whether you are a returning member of the P.K. Yonge family or joining us for the very first time, I want to introduce myself and express my gratitude for the chance to work together in support of our students this year. My name is Ms. Watson, and I’m honored to step into the role of Director of the Elementary Program at P.K. Yonge. Having had the joy of teaching here, serving as a learning community leader, and being a parent of children in our school, I feel deeply connected to this community. I look forward to joining you in supporting your child’s growth and success. As we begin this journey together, I want to share some of the core values and commitments that inspire and guide our work here at P.K. Yonge. This year, our school-wide theme is One Wave. One Family. It’s about how we’re all connected—like drops of water that come together to make one wave. At P.K. Yonge, we support each other like one family, making sure every student feels included, cared for, and ready to learn and grow. This sense of connection shapes our focus in three key areas this year: leadership, culture, and academics. Leadership is at the heart of everything we do. We believe leadership isn’t about titles—it’s about the everyday choices we make. By fostering student responsibility and initiative, whether setting personal goals or collaborating with classmates, our students learn to lead themselves and others with integrity and purpose. Equally important is the culture we build as a community. At P.K. Yonge, we want all students, families, and staff to feel proud and connected. Through everyday classroom activities and school events, we work to create a space where every student feels encouraged to participate, take on new challenges, and grow as learners and leaders. We value kindness, teamwork, and respect, knowing that every member of our community helps make P.K. Yonge a wonderful place to learn. In academics, our teaching team is excited to create learning experiences that really matter. We want to spark curiosity and help students build the skills, strategies, and confidence they need to succeed not just in school, but in life.
