In an effort to further leadership and innovation in P.K. Yonge classrooms and across the state, P.K. Yonge has partnered with the University of Florida Lastinger Center for Learning to support two new affiliate faculty members.

In her affiliate faculty role, Math Specialist Jan Merritt, M.Ed., will champion best practices in math instruction, and provide professional learning, coaching and feedback to her colleagues. Her goal is to help establish model mathematics classrooms at P.K. Yonge and support the broader educational mission of the Lastinger Center through outreach, presentation, publications and research across Florida. She will also work with P.K. Yonge students to support their math learning.

In his affiliate faculty role, Literacy Specialist Jon Mundorf, Ed.D., will promote evidence-based literacy strategies, support colleagues through instructional coaching, and help develop model literacy environments across grade levels. He will also extend the reach of the Lastinger Center’s mission through professional learning, community engagement, and statewide literacy leadership. In addition, he will teach a middle school creative writing class.

This partnership highlights P.K. Yonge’s continued commitment to educational excellence and innovation — not only for our students, but for educators across the state.
