Kindergarten Start Days

Welcome to the Blue Wave, Kindergarten Families! Please read the staggered start email below from Ms. Ozog. This was also mailed to your student in mid-July with their Start Day highlighted. If you aren’t sure of your start day, please reach out to Ms. Ozog at jozog@pky.ufl.edu.  Once you have made it through the first day schedules for kindergarten, please be aware of the bell schedules and supervision information that was sent yesterday, July 22.  We are looking forward to you joining our Blue Wave family! ********************** Dear Kindergarten Families, On behalf of PK Yonge, we are delighted to extend a warm welcome to you and your child as you embark on an exciting journey into kindergarten. As we prepare for the upcoming school year, we want to inform you about an important aspect of our kindergarten program: two different start days. This approach has proven highly beneficial for our young learners as it allows them to adjust gradually to the kindergarten environment, get acquainted with their teachers, explore their learning spaces, and begin building friendships with their classmates. Your child has been thoughtfully assigned to one of these start days. This information was mailed by USPS.  Start Day 1: Monday, August 10th at 8:30-2:45 Start Day 2: Tuesday, August 11th at 8:30-2:45 *Please note that Wednesday will be a 7:30-8:00 drop off.* Please note that your child's assigned start day was sent by USPS mail. On this day, we kindly request that you ensure your child arrives at PKY by 8:30 to join their fellow students and embark on this memorable journey together.  On the first day of kindergarten, we have a simple and straightforward procedure to ensure a smooth and comfortable transition for your child. Please enter through the 11th Street entrance where you will be greeted by our friendly gate guard who will guide you through the drop-off process. Once inside the gate, you will be directed to the Blue Benches located at the drop-off circle. This is where our  teachers will be eagerly waiting to welcome your child and help them transition into the learning community. We understand that this is an important milestone for both you and your child, so we invite parents to join us in the learning community until 9:00 am. It is a wonderful opportunity to witness and support your child as they embark on their kindergarten journey. At PKY, we deeply value the partnership between our school and families. We understand that starting kindergarten can be both exciting and overwhelming, not just for your child but for you as well. We encourage you to actively participate in your child's educational journey by attending parent-teacher meetings, volunteering in classrooms, and engaging in school events and activities. Together, we can create a supportive and enriching environment that nurtures your child's growth and development. Once again, we extend our warmest welcome to you and your child.
