Today is Tuesday, September 17, and it is an ADay.

On Saturday at the Trinity Christian Invitational Race, the Girls Cross Country Team came in 4th place led by Juliette Palechor who finished 1st overall, for the 2nd straight race, at 20:54, Ellie Cervantes who finished 10th , Jocelyn Riley, Paulina Cervantes, Anastaja Fernandez-Smith, and Haley Romrell.   The Boys cross country team was led by Ian Rodriguez who finished 8th overall at 18:30, Tucker Fetko at 22:17, and William Dietrich, Michael Dietrich, and Davis Garrett who all finished under 25 minutes.

 

Hello Seniors! Saturday, September 28 from 9 A.M. to 12 P.M., seniors will be painting their parking spots! Come to the senior class government meeting September 19 in Lemstrom’s room to reserve your spot. You will need to bring $10 cash to the meeting, and bring your own paint and brushes on the day of painting. First come first serve for spots, so make sure you are at this meeting! For more information look at the flyers posted around school or talk to your senior class government! You must already have a parking decal from the business office in order to reserve a senior parking spot.

 

All UNICEF members our school cleaning day has been changed to TOMORROW after school. Please remember that books donations and books cover are also due TOMORROW.

 

Do you love science? Do you love competing? Join Science Olympiad! Any high school student interested in joining the Science Olympiad team should stop by room Q-502, Mrs. Davis’s room (Dr. MacDonald’s old room), to pick up a permission form. Permission forms are due by Thursday.

 

Do you have brothers, sisters, cousins, parents, aunts, uncles, or even grandparents who went to PK, too? Our yearbook wants to feature PK families this year.  Check out the link on the yearbook page and fill out the survey if you want to be a part of the PK Families page in the yearbook!

 

THESPIANS: We are in full swing for district IE’s .  All events must be registered with Ms. Snyder by TOMORROW.  Go Thespians!

 

Fall Baseball will start TODAY  from 4-6pm. Practices will be every Tuesday and Thursday . This for 6-12th grades.  All players must attend study hall immediately after school; baseball study hall will meet in the west side of the cafeteria. All players must have a current sports physical on file with Coach Barrett before they can practice or play fall baseball. Players need to wear shorts, a T-shirt, hat and cleats; also bring a pair of running shoes.  If you have not let Coach Brunson know that you are interested in participating in Fall Baseball, please see him during lunch this week.

 

Mandatory rehearsals are this Tuesday and Thursday from 2:30-3:30 for all the students participating in the cultural day on September 27.

 

TECA (taquitos, empanadas, croquetas and arepas will be this week on Wednesday and Thursday please come by the gym and support the Hispanic Honor Society.

 

Attention Seniors: The first Senior Seminar of the year is TOMORROW in the PAC right after school.  This week we will cover time management and go over some ways to stay ahead of everything. We’ll see you there!

 

Key Club is holding a hurricane relief drive through Friday, September 27th. Please bring in donations of baby items, metal nails, toiletries, feminine hygiene products, blankets, batteries, canned goods, and gallons of water to Mr. Lemstrom in K-332 or Ms. Andrews in O-362.

 

On Thursday at the conclusion of morning announcements, you will nominate peers for the Homecoming Court.  Be thinking about who you want to nominate.

 

TOMORROW September 18, The Black Student Union will host an introduction and interest meeting in Mr. Courtney’s Classroom, H-123, from approximately 1:50p.m. to 2:20p.m. All members, and those interested in joining, should attend.

 

Acts of Random Kindness club is sponsoring Start with Hello Week activities (Sept 23rd – 27th).  The purpose is to maximize the feelings of community and connection that PKY is known for.

Human Bingo- Tuesday
Middle School English teachers will pass out the Human Bingo Game Form (examples:  find a person who does not live in Gainesville, find a person who is new to PKY, etc.).  Fill the sheet with different signatures from students who fit the criteria. Return the completed sheet to Mrs. Ireland by 9/27 for the chance to win a prize!

Fave day- Wednesday
Everyone !! Wear an article of clothing that displays something that is important to you. Reach out to classmates you do not know well to learn more about their clothing choice during lunch, in the hall, or after school.

Random act of Kindness Day- Thursday
Go out of your way to do something nice for someone else.
Start With Hello Wall.  Write your favorite conversation starters on the banner in the cafeteria during lunch.  We hope you all participate in these activities!

 

BTW: The food truck will be here next Monday, Sept. 23rd.
