Dear Blue Wave Families, As if one major project weren’t exciting enough 😊, I wanted to share an important update that will be happening alongside construction of our new, state-of-the-art, air-conditioned gymnasium. The City of Gainesville will soon begin a significant resurfacing and safety improvement project on SW 6th Street, directly adjacent to our campus. While the timing may feel a bit overwhelming, this project ultimately brings meaningful long-term benefits for safety, accessibility, and traffic flow around P.K. Yonge.

What to Expect from the City’s Project

In addition to resurfacing, the project includes several upgrades designed to improve safety for all road users:

Traffic During Construction

We are in close communication with the City and will continue to monitor conditions closely. As with our campus construction, we will adjust procedures as needed, always keeping student and community safety as our highest priority.

For families who would like additional details directly from the City: We are deeply grateful for your continued patience, flexibility, and partnership as we navigate this unique moment—one that brings short-term inconvenience but long-term gains for our campus and surrounding community. Thank you for leaning into this season with the same care and cooperation that make P.K. Yonge such a special place.
