The P.K. Yonge Activity Fee allows all students an equal opportunity to be enriched by the school experience. This fee is used to support student activities and services beyond the core instructional program. Activity Fees are not used to support facilities or school operations (Mission Statement proposed by the School Advisory Council Activity Fee Subcommittee 8/21/2012).
During the 2011-2012 school year the P.K. Yonge Activity Fee supplemented our athletic teams and supported our coaches, helped to maintain our athletic fields and equipment, funded club sponsors, supplemented the band, contributed to field trips, funded high school graduation, and supported our literary magazine. The Activity Fee also funds all transportation costs for field trips, athletic teams, and club travel. In recognition of the growing need to support student access to computers with a high speed internet connection, the School Advisory Council approved the purchase of 40 desktop and 40 laptop computers as well as updated wireless access points for the school library. Follow this link to review the summary Activity Fee Budget for 2011-2012.
The Activity Fee Budget for 2012-2013 provides increased supplements for our athletic teams, supports our coaches, funds club sponsors and graduation expenses, and adds supplemental support for academic clubs and performing arts. In addition, extended library hours, a field trip budget (up to $25/student for grade level field trips), and an allocation to purchase a new school bus for student activities are included in this year’s Activity Fee Budget. The Activity Fee Budget for 2012-13 was approved by the School Advisory Council on November 15, 2012.
A School Advisory Council Student Activity Budget Sub-Committee was formed on November 15, 2012. The charge to this committee is to review all athletic, club, and field trip budgets for 2012-13 to inform recommendations to the School Advisory Council regarding future adjustments to our current Activity Fee Budget structure. Please see the School Advisory Council webpage for updates and information.
