Students, gather your best original writing of all types and give it to your English teacher or to Mrs. Harrell (J-311), and the literary magazine staff will consider it for publication in the special, expanded 10th anniversary issue of Creeks and Currents. You may submit work from this year or from past years. Deadline for all submissions is Jan 20, 2017, but the sooner the better. Teachers, you can submit any awesome work your students do in your classes as well.

Contest!

Win a holiday gift basket filled with goodies! The last day to submit your original holiday artwork for the PKY holiday card contest is TODAY! Pick up a copy of the contest rules from your art classroom.

Words of Wisdom

Charles Dickens once wrote: Reflect upon your blessings, of which every person has plenty; not on your past misfortunes, of which all people have some. It is oftentimes easier to remember the negative things in life instead of all the good for which we can be grateful each day. Each of us has someone in our life for which we are thankful – someone who has shown us caring and support. I encourage you to spend some time this Thanksgiving week thinking about one person in your life who has shown you kindness and made a positive impact on you. Close your eyes and picture the face of someone who did something or said something that changed your life for the better. Someone who you never properly thanked. Then, write a letter of gratitude to that person explaining what they did for you and how it changed your life. Finally, read that letter to your special person. You will both be happy you did. With something to think about, make it a great day. The choice is yours!
