ANNOUNCEMENTS:

Clubs:

The Speech and Debate Team will have an interest meeting on Wednesday August 23rd at 1:45pm for all interested students in the library back room. Anyone who is interested in joining the Speech and Debate team should plan on attending this meeting. Information about being involved in the club will be passed out, and all of the upcoming activities will be discussed. If you have any questions you can see Mr. Lightbourne in the library or email him at tlightbourne@pky.ufl.edu We hope to see you at the meeting!

WaveRunner members! Our next meeting is scheduled for Thursday, August 24 at 11:45 am in the ISD Office. Please come ready to input ideas and grow your skills!

The National Honor Society meeting has been rescheduled for Monday, August 28th during Power Hour in Dr. Weller’s room, M350. This year’s membership is posted outside her room.

The Roaring Riptide High School Robotics Club for 9th-12th grade will have their first meeting today from 2:30-5:00 p.m. If you are interested in joining the Roaring Riptide Robotics Club, please plan to attend the first 45 minutes of this meeting.The meeting will be held in the portable at the south end of campus past the gym – the number on the portable is Z1426.

Performing Arts:

Our PKY Fall play will be DRACULA! Auditions will be Thursday August 24th at 2:45 PM. The sign up for audition times is on our school website Thespians page. Scripts and audition materials are available in J-309.

Middle and high school students are invited to comic and writing club with Club President Emma Habeck every Monday in Ms. Cheveallier’s room, K324 during Power Hour and lunch.

The Blue Wave Gay-Straight Alliance (GSA) will be meeting for the first time this year on Friday during Power Hour and lunch in Ms. Cheveallier’s room, K-324.

For those students who wish to come to the library during power hour, please be aware of the following:

  • For the first half, from 11:45-12:15, only high school students may be in the library.  For the second half, from 12:15-12:45, only middle school students may be in the library.
  • When you are in the library, please:
  • Everyone sits in a chair – no standing around or on the floor
  • Clean up/move chairs back when you leave
  • No games on the computers
  • If you are watching/listening to something on a device, use headphones
  • No food or drinks
  • Phones on silent and take phone calls outside of the library

Socrates’ Corner, an informal club dedicated to knowledge of ethics and philosophy, will meet in Mr. Lemstrom’s classroom, L-356, every Wednesday during high school lunch. The first meeting is this Wednesday, Aug. 23. We hope to see you there!

 Athletics:

Tonight boys golf plays against Santa Fe, tee time is 4:00 pm.

Volleyball is also in action tonight at Santa Fe.  Junior Varsity starts at 6:00 pm and Varsity plays after at 7:00pm.

EXCITING NEWS:  FOOD TRUCK TODAY!

 

The Food Truck will be parked in the circle near the gym.  You can use your lunch account of pay cash — same prices as the cafeteria.

Students wishing to park in the gym parking lot must purchase a parking pass in the business office by Friday August the 25th.  Your pinkish colored parking pass must be prominently displayed in the front window of the vehicle.

Dual enrolled students and high school student interns that wish to park on the gravel lot must purchase a black and white parking pass in the business office.
