Good morning, Blue Wave.  Today is Thursday, April 12th and it is an A Day!

 

ANNOUNCEMENTS:

 

Congratulations to Lee Ducharme. Lee will be signing a soccer scholarship to the University of West Florida today at 3:15pm in the library.  Please come down to the library to show your support.

 

High fives to the varsity baseball team for their 8-3 win over Bradford last night. Way to go Blue Wave!

 

Colorguard auditions for the 2018-2019 school year are Tuesday, April 17th & Thursday April 19th from 3 pm-5pm in the gym. Auditions are open to all 7th-11th graders.

 

Congratulations to the Girls Track Team and Boys Track Team at Districts yesterday. Both Teams placed 2nd with many individuals advancing to regionals.

 

A presentation on the art of “Found Object Costuming” by famous New York artist, Machine Dazzle, will take place tomorrow at 3:00 pm at The Phillips Center at UF.  Admission is free and all PKY students are welcome to attend.

 

 

 

Tickets for the 2018 Prom, Midsummer Night’s Dream, will be on sale in the Business Office until Wednesday, April 25th. Tickets are $45.00, and all juniors, seniors, and guests must complete dance forms before purchasing tickets. Guest students from other schools need to have the Dean of their school sign the form. Guests must come with the attendee to turn in all forms together. Forms are available from Mr. Lemstrom and Mr. Beyer. Hope to see you there!

 

Ladies Learning to Lead is a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping middle school and high school young women prepare for college, careers, and life.  The organization is holding their Annual Leadership Conference from May 18-20th at the University of Florida.  The final deadline for registration is Sunday, April 15th.  The cost is $125, but there are scholarships available. Please see Dr. Geiger if you would like more information.

 

Attention Middle School Performing Arts Students:

There are exciting changes and new courses being offered in Performing Arts next year here at PK! Auditions will be held for the select middle school class, called ON STAGE! on Thursday April 19th! If you will be a 7th or 8th grader next year, and want to be considered for this high level performing group, please sign up for an audition time in room A-104 in the PAC.

 

Football Cheerleading try-outs for both JV and Varsity will today and tomorrow from 3:30-5pm in the gymnasium.  Please pick-up a try-out packet from Coach Barrett or the Front office.

 

The food truck will be back at PKY on April 24th, don’t miss out!

 

Seniors:

 

Seniors – Gradbash is tomorrow, please adhere to the dress code and be at the gym by 4pm. Ask Mr. Bice any questions you may have.

 

Power Hour:

 

There will be a mandatory meeting for the “rising class of 2019” today during Power Hour. We will be discussing senior portraits and other important senior-related info.  The meeting will be from 11:50 – 12:20 in the PAC. Please report to the PAC immediately after your 2nd period class. Thanks for your participation!

 

The first PKY 4H Meeting will take place today during Power Hour from 12:20-12:50, location TBA. This new club is open to all Middle School and High School students, whether or not you are already a member of a 4H Chapter or not. The Club will meet each Thursday throughout the remainder of the school year.

 

Don’t forget to buy your tickets to the 2018 Men’s Volleyball Tournament presented by Habitat for Humanity! Come cheer on your grade level by purchasing your ticket for 3 dollars or 2 canned food items at lunch in front of the cafeteria during power hour or see Señora Rodriguez. If you want to play, spots are limited! There are only 12 spots available for each grade level so make sure to bring 10 dollars to either the table outside the cafeteria during power hour or to Señora Rodriguez. Shirts will be given to players to wear during the game and to keep afterward. The game will take place on April 20th during third period. All profits will go to the Habitat for Humanity organization to help people in need.
