Academics

The May Scholarship Letter is Now Available! You can find it on the announcements page of the website or the School Counseling Twitter.

Students, there is an excellent opportunity to attend a College Application Workshop on June 4th at 9:00 AM at Buchholz High School with Mr. Robert LeVine. This will offer an in-depth explanation of the why’s, how’s, and how-to’s, along with exercises to train students how to write the most effective essays.

Attention students in grades 8 – 11,
Here is a very good opportunity to earn community service hours;  Winning Reading Boost summer camp will run from June 7th through July 13th, 8 am til 1pm, Monday through Thursday at Lake Forest Elementary School.  Please consider volunteering one or more hours per week.  Contact Dr. Lisa Langley at langleylisa@coe.ufl.edu or Dr. Vivian Haynes at vivianhaynes11@yahoo.com to learn more.

Arts

The Tumblin’ Creek Springs Arts and Science Festival is today.  Please plan to stay and see all of the wonderful artwork around campus from 3-7pm!

Clubs

If you are interested in becoming a new member of the National Junior Honor Society you can download an application from the club page on the school website or contact Dr. Cordero.  Students must have a 3.4 GPA which can be found on Skyward.  Applications are due Friday, May 19th.  If you have any questions please contact Dr. Cordero.

To students and staff:  The special full-color 132 page 10th Anniversary issue of Creeks and Currents is now on sale for $5 each from Mrs. Jacobbe in elementary, Ms. Sanchez in the front office, Ms. Johnson in art, and your English and Spanish teachers.  Get yours while supplies last.

Prom

The 2017 P.K. Yonge Prom, “The Oscars,” will be held on Saturday, May 20 from 8:00 PM until midnight at the Best Western Gateway Grand. Tickets are $45.00 and are on sale in the business office until noon on Wednesday, May 17. All students must complete a dance contract to be submitted with payment.  Students you must also be off the debt list to purchase your ticket.  See you there!

Seniors

Water Day is tomorrow – As of Friday afternoon, the AP exams will be over and it is time for a little fun. Water day will begin with Hotdogs, Hamburgers, and veggie burgers with sides up at the top field at 12:30 on Friday. Bring your appetite for some of Coach Power’s excellent cooking and your bathing suit. Please follow dress code in the morning and if you bring a water gun, leave it in the car or with a senior teacher until 12:30. We look forward to seeing you there!

Don’t forget to go onto the Senior web page and vote for your graduation Master of Ceremony by the end of the day on Friday.

Complete and submit your requests for final transcripts to be sent to your colleges now.  Requests will be fulfilled in the order in which they are received.  Remember final transcripts cannot be printed and sent until grades are finalized in Skyward.  Do it now, being sure to include all pertinent information.

Yearbooks

Yearbooks have arrived and are on sale today during lunch outside the cafeteria and after school in Mr. Holt’s room.  The cost is $70 cash or check made out to UF.  Yearbooks will not be sold during instructional time or in between classes.
