Good morning, Blue Wave.  Today is Monday, April 16^th and it is an A Day!

 

ANNOUNCEMENTS:

 

Colorguard auditions for the 2018-2019 school year are tomorrow, April 17^th & Thursday April 19^th from 3 pm-5pm in the gym. Auditions are open to all 7^th-11^th graders.

 

PK is having its first-ever Pride Week, and we need help!  All members of GSA Pride Week planning committee, please plan to meet in Ms. Cheveallier’s room during Power Hour today.  If you’d like to help us out, please join us!

 

Tickets for the 2018 Prom, Midsummer Night’s Dream, will be on sale in the Business Office until Wednesday, April 25^th. Tickets are $45.00, and all juniors, seniors, and guests must complete dance forms before purchasing tickets. Guest students from other schools need to have the Dean of their school sign the form. Guests must come with the attendee to turn in all forms together. Forms are available from Mr. Lemstrom and Mr. Beyer. Hope to see you there!

 

AP exam registration and preparation begins today. All students in the 11^th grade who are in AP classes must come today to room M-344 to register for their AP exams. All Juniors must register at a certain time depending on their last name. Juniors whose last name starts with A through L must go to room M-344 at 11:50am to register for their AP exam. All Juniors whose last name starts with M through Z must report to room M-344 at 12:20pm to register for their AP exams. If you have any questions or need to schedule a different time you must email Mr. Lightbourne today.

 

On April 26^th at 6:00 PM Santa Fe College will hold the 2^nd annual Black Male Enrichment Conference. The event is open to 7-11 grade black male students and their guardians and will provide access to important information about admissions, financial aid, scholarships, Santa Fe programs, mentorship opportunities, and the other services that My Brothers Keeper offers. My Brothers Keeper is a program designed to increase the retention and success of black males both academically and socially at Santa Fe College. The event will be held in the Santa Fe Andrews Center at the Starke Campus.

 

Congratulations to the High School Omers who participated in the State Odyssey of the Mind competition this weekend at UCF.  Both teams competed in different Problems and represented PK  extremely well.  The team  that  participated in the Problem 3 placed 6th in their category out of 19 teams and  the team that competed in Problem 5 placed 2nd out of 14 teams and received a bid to compete at the world competition at Iowa State in May.  We are extremely proud of both teams.  Special shout out to Kacie Bailey who received One of only two Omer awards handed out at competition.  Please help us wish Dr. Weller’s team best of luck at Worlds.  Congratulations!!!

 

Attention Middle School Performing Arts Students:

There are exciting changes and new courses being offered in Performing Arts next year here at PK! Auditions will be held for the select middle school class, called ON STAGE! on Thursday April 19^th! If you will be a 7^th or 8^th grader next year, and want to be considered for this high level performing group, please sign up for an audition time in room A-104 in the PAC.

 

Any athlete or student  in any sport (including football) who are using the football lockers must have them cleaned out by Tuesday afternoon. Any items found after that time will be disposed of. Football equipment and locker assignments will be issued on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. Players participating in spring football are to report to the locker room on Friday by 315.

 

The food truck will be back at PKY on April 24^th, don’t miss out!

 

Seniors:

 

It’s time to nominate a special classmate to be Master of Ceremonies at Graduation.  Think about the qualities that would make someone a perfect MC, and then submit your nomination in writing to Dr. Geiger by Friday, April 27^th.  Voting will take place in early May, and the selectee will be announced at the Senior Awards Ceremony on May 14^th.

 

Power Hour:

 

Don’t forget to buy your tickets to the 2018 Men’s Volleyball Tournament presented by Habitat for Humanity! Come cheer on your grade level by purchasing your ticket for 3 dollars or 2 canned food items at lunch in front of the cafeteria during power hour or see Señora Rodriguez. If you are interested in playing, spots are limited! There are only 12 spots available for each grade level so make sure to bring 10 dollars to either the table outside the cafeteria during power hour or to Señora Rodriguez. Shirts will be given to players to wear during the game and to keep afterward. The game will take place on April 20^th during third period. All profits will go to the Habitat for Humanity organization to help people in need.
