Today is Friday, September 14th, and it is an A Day.

Homecoming is next week!

The following dress up days will be celebrated:

  • Monday-Character Day Monday
  • Tuesday-Twin Tuesday
  • Wednesday- Decades Day Wednesday
  • Thursday- Spirit Day Thursday

 

The three best dressed students each day will win Chick-fil-A lunch for a day the week after Homecoming. Show up in front of the cafeteria by 8AM each morning if you want to compete for the best costume.

To vote for the best teacher costume go to the Student Government Twitter account and click on the link.

The  grade level who raises the most money for DimeWars will have a pizza party for everyone in the grade in both middle and high school.

The High Tide Pep Rally will take place in the PAC on Wednesday September 19th at 7pm. Get your $5 Tickets for High Tide in the Business Office.  Tickets at the door will be cash only.

The Homecoming Parade will take place at 9AM on Thursday. Participating students should check in with their first period teachers and then report to your parade activity or area.

After cheering the football team to victory Friday night we will have the Homecoming Dance in the Gym. The Dance will start at 9pm and end at 11:30pm. Purchase your  $10 Dance ticket in the business office. The dance is semi-formal and is only for high school students. Tickets at the door will be cash only.

Juniors and Seniors: please vote for Homecoming King and Queen and Homecoming Prince and Princess. Go to the Twitter account and open the link to the ballot. You must be signed into your P.K. Yonge TODAY. The results will be announced during High Tide.

 

Reminder to Students who are taking virtual classes: You should be 25% complete  with segment 1 by TODAY.

All middle school students are invited to learn more about the new Science Olympiad club.  All 6th, 7th and 8th grade students are invited to participate in an interest meeting TODAY during lunch in Dr. Cordero’s room, I-112.

The Rosa Rabell scholarship is now open.  Students in good standing who can demonstrate financial need can apply to receive a full travel scholarship to travel to Costa Rica for 2 weeks in June.  Partial travel scholarships will also be awarded to students in good standing. Students selected for the Rosa Rabelais scholarships will participate in a full Spanish Immersion program for 10 days and have the opportunity to explore the country’s culture, cuisine, and home life. Students must be 16 by June 1st and must have completed Spanish 2. Please see Mrs. Santiago or visit our school website for more details and guidelines.  Scholarship applications are DUE October 12, 2018 before 12:00 pm.

Seventh and Eighth graders who are members of the National Junior Honor Society please come to our first meeting in Mrs. Beckett’s room I-109 during lunch TODAY.  Please bring your lunch.

Blue Wave GSA will meet today during lunch.  Middle school GSA will meet in Mr. Bourn’s room.  High school GSA will meet in Ms. Andrews’ room.

There will be a high school National Honor Society meeting this Monday, September 17th, in Dr. Weller’s room (M350) at the beginning of high school lunch.  Please bring your dues if you have not paid them yet.

All 10th, 11th, and 12th grade Tri-M music honor society members, there will be a meeting on Thursday September 20th during high school lunch in Dr. Harris room A-104 in the PAC. We will elect officers and discuss our service projects for this year.

REMINDERS FROM OFFICER SAVONA:  Do not to leave your backpacks unattended. Please be responsible for your valuables and treat them like you are at the airport — always being in your  possession or sight of your bags and valuables.

Please everyone get your parking decals. Those who do not have a parking decal will not be allowed to park in the student south lot and will be instructed to park in the far north dirt parking lot.

 

ATHLETICS:

Middle School Students interested in playing soccer should sign up at at a link on Ms. Brown’s, Mrs. Flakes, or Mrs. Sheppard’s class pages

All boys and girls interested in playing in the Middle School Soccer Team should come to room M345 (Dr. De Leon) next Wednesday, September 19 during lunch (11:55-12:25). Bring your lunch with you.

There will be a Girls Basketball meeting for all girls 6th grade to 12th grade girls who are interested in Playing Middle School, JV, and Varsity Basketball on Tuesday 9-19-18 at 2:30 in the Aerobics Room in the Gym.

The Powder Puff game will be on Tuesday, Sept. 18th at 1:30pm on the PKY football field. Tickets will be sold at the cafeteria at middle school and high school lunch for $2.00.  Show your ticket to your 3rd period teacher on Tuesday to attend the game.

Congratulations to the swimming and dive team for defeating cross-town rivals Oak Hall, St. Francis and Redeemer Christian on Wednesday night.  Good luck against GHS Monday at 5:30pm.
