Good morning, Blue Wave.  Today is Friday, February 16th and it is a B Day!

Congratulations to girls’ basketball for defeating St. Joseph’s 56-37 in the regional semifinals. Come support the team Tuesday at 7 when they take on University Christian in the regional final!

The PKY Baseball Tournament starts tonight! The baseball team will play against Union County tonight at 7:00pm and then again tomorrow against Interlachen at 4:00pm.  Saturday there will be a BBQ dinner and tickets can be purchased from Coach Brunson for $8.00!

This week we will be celebrating our School Counselors, Ms. Antelis, Mrs. Ireland, Mr. Polanco-Lopez and Ms. Bryen.  Reach out and let your counselor know how much you appreciate them.

The February Scholarship Newsletter is available! There are many scholarships for seniors particularly, so please visit the PK Yonge website or the School Counseling Twitter to take a look.

Attention 7th – 12th graders: Are you interested in performing poetry or spoken word? The 4th annual Alachua County-wide teen poetry showcase will be held on February 25th, 2018 at 5pm.  The goal is to have students across the county be highlighted for their poetic gifts.  Last year, several of you performed with the GHS poetry club and they would like you to join them again.  If you are interested, or need more information, please see Mrs. Koppitch in the library.

The P.K. Yonge Spring Musical, PIPPIN, opens tonight and continues through February 24th.  Get your tickets online or in the business office.  Don’t miss this extraordinary show!

Make plans to attend the Dress Code Town Hall today in the library during Power Hour.  This is your opportunity to express your ideas and opinions to inform the revision of the Dress Code for next year.

Get down at the middle school dance today from 3-5 p.m. in the cafeteria. Tickets are $3 in advance, $4 at the door, and will be on sale every day at middle school lunch, in front of the cafeteria.  Don’t delay, get yours today! Proceeds benefit the PK Marine Science club.

The National Junior Honor Society has accepted the challenge of helping to find a cure for blood cancer!  Over the next 2 weeks our school will be working to reach a goal of $1,000. If everyone at the school donates $1 we can reach this goal!  You can donate any amount (pennies, quarters or dollars). Donations for the Pennies for Patients campaign will be collected for your first period class. The first period class with the highest collection can win a celebration party if the school’s goal is reached.  Thanks in advance for your generosity!

We will be taking our group photo for the Yearbook on Monday, February 19th.  SWI will be taking the photo so please make your way down to the field immediately after 2nd period for the photo at 11:50.
