José De León has taught Math and worked in curriculum and assessment in Math since 2012. His passion for teaching Math was influenced by his mentors in Puerto Rico and by the vision of Teach for America. He comes to P.K. Yonge with a sense of urgency that is fueled by a compelling belief that every child has learning potential, and that with hard work, dedication and compassion, every child can learn and unlock their human potential. José also enjoys teaching Math because beyond the numbers and the operations, children learn how to make rational and informed decisions and interpretations of the world they live in. As a Hispanic male, Dr. De León embraces cultural diversity and believes that once each student has discovered their unique capabilities and shared them with the world, they have the opportunity to become better versions of themselves.

“He who conquers others is strong; He who conquers himself is mighty.” (Lao Tzu)
